Role: Business Analyst (Accounting & Data Focus)
We are seeking a highly skilled Microsoft Business Analyst with strong accounting knowledge and advanced data analysis expertise. This role bridges finance and technology by leveraging Microsoft tools (Dynamics, Power BI, Excel, SQL, etc.) to analyze financial data, streamline accounting processes, and deliver actionable insights that support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has both deep accounting expertise and strong technical acumen to translate complex business requirements into scalable solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with accounting, finance, and business stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze requirements.
- Translate accounting and financial processes into functional and technical specifications for Microsoft solutions (Dynamics 365, Power Platform, SQL Server, etc.).
- Design and build dashboards, reports, and data models in Power BI and Excel to deliver real-time financial insights.
- Support ERP (e.g., Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Business Central, or other Microsoft ERP platforms) configuration, reporting, and data integration.
- Identify opportunities for process automation within accounting and finance functions using Microsoft tools (Power Automate, Power Apps, etc.).
- Perform in-depth financial data analysis, reconciliations, and variance investigations to support decision-making.
- Partner with IT and finance teams to ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance with internal controls.
- Provide end-user training and ongoing support for accounting and reporting systems.
- Assist with system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new Microsoft features and modules.
- Document workflows, data dictionaries, and technical solutions to support knowledge sharing and compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Financial Systems Analyst, with strong exposure to Microsoft technologies.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, Excel (advanced formulas, Power Query, PivotTables), and SQL.
- Experience with ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 (F&O, Business Central, or GP).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial and operational data.
- Excellent communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, documentation, and project management skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience integrating Microsoft tools with third-party applications.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Background in financial systems implementations, upgrades, or migrations.
Estimated compensation: $90,000-$103,000/yr with flexibility based on experience and skills.
